About the organiser

Organiser Description
The Drukpa lineage, a branch of the Kagyud school of Tibetan Buddhism, was founded in the Tsang region of Tibet by Tsangpa Gyare (1161–1211), and later became influential in Ladakh and it is the dominant school and state religion for Bhutan.

Under the administrative order of the 9th Gyalwa Dokhampa, supported by His Eminence Khamtak Rinpoche Jigme Tenzin Wangpo and under the guidance of the centre's resident monk, Lobpon Deachen Gurmet, Drukpa SG organises weekly Green Tara group practice, monthly new moon, full moon prayers with lamp offerings, Medicine Buddha prayers and Chod practices on Dakini Day.

Extensive blessing and purification pujas such as Drolma Yuldok, Gyabshi and Nyung Nay retreats are conducted twice a year. Pilgrimages to holy sites with onsite-prayers guided by a group of monks have also been organised since 2024.

Each year, there are numerous opportunities to participate in spiritual activities organised by other Drukpa monasteries and spiritual centres in Asia, Europe, USA and Latin America to deepen practices.
