About this event

Temple Stay at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery

Experience the serene rhythm of monastic life, reconnect with your inner self, and deepen your understanding of Buddhism through our Temple Stay.

Our Temple Stay offers a nurturing space for reflection and renewal — an invitation to slow down, breathe, and return to the present moment. Here, you are invited to awaken your innate Buddha nature through mindful living and simplicity.

During your stay, you may choose to observe the Eight Precepts, dedicating the merits to your parents as a heartfelt expression of filial piety. This practice sows the seeds of wholesome karma, paving the way for peace, clarity, and gratitude.

Throughout your time in the monastery, you will be actively participating in a variety of mindful activities designed to ground the body, calm the mind, and open the heart:

  • Morning and Evening Chants: Immerse yourself in the sacred sounds of Buddhist scripture, a practice that cultivates tranquillity, devotion and wisdom.
  • Sitting and Walking Meditation: Develop inner stillness through guided or self-led meditation, fostering mindfulness, concentration and relieve stress and anxiety.
  • Vegetarian Meals: Practise gratitude as you mindfully savour each bite — reconnecting with the nourishment of natural ingredients and the effort behind each meal.
  • Monastery Duties and Chores: Participate in the daily responsibilities of monastic life, nurturing mindfulness through simple, purposeful actions that align the body and mind.

Our Temple Stay offers a nurturing opportunity for deep self-reflection and mindfulness. Participants are encouraged to minimise the use of electronic devices and observe noble silence throughout their stay, fostering a heightened sense of self-awareness and inner presence.

The Monastery offers two formats of temple stay:

Guided Retreat: Includes group practices guided by the Venerables, along with time for individual practice. The Monastery will assist in planning your daily practice schedule.
