About this event

Avalokitesvara (Guan Yin) Bodhisattva, who attained Buddhahood in the past named “The Tathāgata with unlimited power, great compassion. ” Any living beings harassed and vexed, and troubled by countless sorrows, burdened without cease. The Bodhisattva’s wondrous wisdom-power will help the suffering world obtain relief”. This is symbol of the Bodhisattva’s mercifulness.

Since Tang Dynasty the practise of worshipping Guanyin has spread widely and piously. Therefore on every Lunar calendar Feb 19 is Guanyin Birthday, Jun 19 is Guanyin Enlightenment day and Sep 19 is Guanyin Renunciation day.

Let’s get together on this auspicious occasion and pay homage to the Great Compassion Bodhisattva for world peace and harmonious society. By just reciting the Name the reciter shall be blessed with the Holy water to lighten one’s sufferings, and the seeker shall be blessed with wisdom and happiness.

All are welcome to join us and vegetarian lunch will be served.

Organiser Description
Introduction
Puji Temple was founded by the late Master Zhuanjie in 1949. It is located at 34 Miri Road, Kampung Baru, Singapore. It is a small Chinese-style temple founded by Master Zhuanjie of Minnan. The land area is 14,200 square feet. It can be said to be a prominent Chinese-style building on Miri Road in Kampung Baru at that time. In 1960, Master Zhuanjie appointed Master Miaodeng as the abbot. In the autumn of that year, Master Zhuanjie passed away. Puji Temple was then managed by Master Miaodeng until 1984 when the temple land was requisitioned by the Port Authority. In the winter of 1986, it moved to No. 66, Lorong G, Telok Kurau. It continued to promote Buddhism. In 1991, Master Miaodeng appointed Master Fadada as the abbot to assist in the development of the temple. In 2002, due to the right circumstances, Miao Lao appointed Master Fadada to invite enthusiastic Dharma protectors to discuss the search for land for development. The old site of Puji Temple was a residential area and was not convenient for religious or group activities. With the help of the Three Treasures, they found a land of more than 11,000 square feet at No. 39, Geylang Lane 12, as a place for relocation and reconstruction. On September 23, 2003, it was approved for registration and named "Puji Temple Buddhist Research Association"
