FAQ
Who is the abbot of Tai Pei Yuen?
Venerable Fatt Kuan is the Chief Abbess of the temple.
Venerable Fatt Kuan's mother, Madam Chow Siew Keng, founded Kuan Yin Lodge in 1938 to propagate the Buddhist Dharma. Back then, the humble temple consisted of two wooden houses and one Kuan Yin statue. After Venerable Fatt Kuan's mother's passing, she took over the reins of the temple.
Venerable Fatt Kuan made the aspiration to receive ordination under Venerable Chang Xi, and walk the spiritual path of propagating the Buddha's teachings to benefit all sentient beings. In 1966, Ven. Fatt Kuan received precepts from Kong Meng San Pho Kark See Monastery.
Venerable Fatt Kuan worked diligently to raise funds for the rebuilding of Kuan Yin Lodge. Upon completion of its rebuilding in 1967, the temple was renamed as Tai Pei Yuen Temple.
