Cheng Beng Buddhist Society is also named Vimalakirti Buddhist Centre in Sanskrit. In the Vimalakirti Sutra, Vimalakirti is a Bodhisattva who has extraordinary powers, great wisdom, debating skills and helped the lay followers of Buddha.

What is the history of Cheng Beng Buddhist Society?
In the early 1960s, the organisation was named Cheng Beng Buddhist Society by Venerable Hong Chuan. Over the years, Cheng Beng Buddhist Society re-built, re-developed and expanded, and in 2012, it officially adopted its Sanskrit name "Vimalakirti Buddhist Centre".
