About this place
The Burmese Buddhist Temple in Singapore has been teaching and promoting Theravada Buddhism since 1875. Since 1990, the current temple has been a place of worship and learning for both locals and Burmese people living in Singapore. There are five resident Sangha (monks) at the temple, as well as other visiting Sangha who help with key activities and the teaching of the Dhamma.

What is the history of the Burmese Buddhist Temple?
The Burmese Buddhist Temple, founded in 1875 by Burmese gentleman U Thar Hnin, began its journey from a small temple on Kinta Road. Through the persistent efforts of U Kyaw Gaung, the first trustee, the temple gradually gained prominence. Today, it stands as a testament to its growth, having relocated from its original site at 17 Kinta Road to a larger space in Singapore.
