About this event
Dharma Talks in Mandarin: Awakening the Mind-Consciousness 《心识的觉醒》
Dates: 7 Nov 2026 (Saturday) – 9 Nov 2026 (Monday)
Day 1 (7 Nov): Understanding Oneself
This segment explains how the first five consciousnesses (eye-consciousness, ear-consciousness, nose-consciousness, tongue-consciousness, body-consciousness) gather sensory input, the sixth intellectual consciousness drives one’s thoughts and actions, the seventh egocentric consciousness clings to the notion of “self”, and the eighth repository consciousness stores experiential imprints. This talk explains how to break through the limitations of surface consciousnesses to understand the root causes of our problems.
Day 2(8 Nov): Thought-Transformation
This segment explains the workings of mental factors, as well as how the "attention" function of the sixth consciousness can enable one to shift one’s mindset when afflictions arise due to external conditions.
Day 3(9 Nov): Transforming Consciousness into Wisdom
This segment explains transformation of the eightfold consciousness into Fourfold Wisdom (mirror-like wisdom, non-judgemental wisdom, insightful wisdom and wisdom for perfection of conduct), to guide our daily thoughts, intentions and actions.
