Founded in 1981 by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, the Karma Kagyud Buddhist Centre was established with the aim of bringing to fruition the invaluable teachings of Buddha in Singapore. Over the years, the Centre has significantly impacted individuals through diverse programs such as classes, meditation sessions, teachings, practices, and more. The term "Kagyud" holds profound significance, with "Ka" referring to oral transmission—the unparalleled words of Buddha or teachings personally conveyed by Buddha. "Gyud" signifies the unbroken transmitted lineage. The Kagyud lineage traces its origin directly to Buddha Vajradhara (Dorje Chang), inseparable from Buddha Shakyamuni. This lineage is a precious Dharma path that guides practitioners toward the attainment of Buddhahood.
